About Combi Boiler Quotes
Most people buy a boiler two or three times in their lives, usually in a hurry after the old one has failed. That makes it hard to know what a fair price looks like, what a good installation includes, or which questions to ask. Combi Boiler Quotes was set up to help UK households put the important details into one enquiry and hear from local heating businesses that do the work.
Combi Boiler Quotes introduces homeowners to independent heating businesses. Submit one free online enquiry and you may receive up to four quotations from engineers who cover your postcode and take on that type of work. Responses depend on availability and local coverage; four quotations are not guaranteed. You can decline every quotation.
What we do, and what we do not do
We are a consumer matching service. We do not employ engineers, sell boilers, install anything or set any business's prices. Each engineer surveys the property, recommends an appliance and gives their own quotation. The contract, payment, appointment, warranty registration and any aftercare are agreed directly between you and the business you choose.
The enquiry is free for homeowners and carries no obligation. Heating businesses pay for access to customer enquiries through the Leads Do Work lead service. An enquiry is an opportunity for them to quote, so an engineer may ask further questions before deciding whether the job suits them.
The boiler work people ask us about
- Combi Boiler Replacement – An engineer needs to assess heat loss and hot-water demand, rather than replace the old boiler with the same output by default. Conversions also involve redundant tanks and pipework.
- Annual Boiler Service – A service checks the appliance against its manufacturer's procedure and leaves you with a maintenance record. It does not promise to repair every fault for the service fee.
- Oil Boiler Replacement – Off-grid replacements need someone who understands oil burners and the fuel supply, including the tank and its safety arrangements.
- Solid Fuel Boilers – Boiler stoves and back boilers need specialist attention to flues, ventilation and a reliable heat outlet. The water circuit is as important as the appliance.
- Boiler Cover – A cover enquiry concerns a provider and its contract terms. It should not be confused with asking an installer to come out for an existing breakdown.
- Biomass Boilers – A useful proposal considers the building's heat demand, fuel handling and owner maintenance as well as appliance size. Grant certification is a separate check.
The six services cover the main decisions a boiler owner faces: replacing a gas boiler, keeping it serviced, protecting it against breakdowns, and choosing a boiler when the house is off the gas grid. Each service page explains the options in plain language, with guide prices, the paperwork you should receive and questions to ask before booking.
Why we put so much weight on the survey
A boiler that is the wrong size, or a flue that does not meet the clearance rules, costs more to fix than to get right first time. An oversized combi cycles on and off and wastes fuel; an undersized one cannot keep up with a family's showers. An oil boiler moved to a new position may need its fuel line rerouted and its tank checked against the separation distances in the Building Regulations. These are things an engineer can only judge in person.
Our guide prices are there to help you budget, not to replace a survey. They are not measured local averages or offers to do the work. Ask each engineer for a written quote that names the appliance, its output and warranty, and separates the boiler, flue, controls and any system cleaning.
Registration, insurance and references
Companies joining the network are asked to provide relevant insurance details and references. Before booking, ask the business for current evidence of its insurance and competence for your fuel. Gas Safe registration is required for paid gas work; OFTEC and HETAS are relevant competence and certification schemes rather than blanket UK licensing requirements. Useful checks include: Gas Safe Register for gas, OFTEC for oil, HETAS for solid fuel and wood, and MCS for biomass systems where a grant is involved. An introduction does not guarantee the work, so check registration numbers on the schemes' own websites.
Boiler cover plans are different: they are sold by cover providers rather than individual engineers, and insurance-based plans are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Read the policy documents and the exclusions before you buy, and see our boiler cover page for the points worth comparing.
Rented homes and landlords
Tenants should report boiler faults to their landlord or letting agent, who is responsible for repairs. Landlords must arrange a gas safety check every 12 months for each gas appliance they provide, and give tenants a copy of the record. If you are a landlord, mention in your enquiry who will provide access and whether the property is occupied.
Safety comes first
This enquiry service cannot handle emergencies. For a suspected gas leak or carbon monoxide incident, leave danger and use the emergency advice from the Gas Safe Register. Do not wait for a quotation response or restart an appliance that may be unsafe.
Start with what you know
Use the free quote enquiry to describe the fuel, the boiler's age and position, and what you need. You can then talk through the options with the engineers who respond and choose whether to take any quotation further.
