Boiler enquiries matched to the fuels and work you cover
A Gas Safe engineer doing combi swaps in a city, an OFTEC technician covering farms and villages, and a HETAS installer fitting boiler stoves all want very different leads. Combi Boiler Quotes passes homeowner enquiries through Leads Do Work so independent heating businesses can pick the work that fits their registrations, travelling distance and diary.

What a boiler lead looks like
Each lead starts with a homeowner asking for quotations at a specific property. Some are precise, such as a request to swap a 15-year-old combi in the same airing cupboard. Others need a conversation first, like a household with a regular boiler, a cylinder and two showers asking whether a combi would cope.
A lead is an opportunity to quote, not a confirmed booking. The homeowner may hear from up to four suitable businesses and can compare prices, delay the work or choose someone else. No particular number of enquiries or conversion rate is promised.
Choose only the work your registration covers
- Gas combi replacement: like-for-like swaps and conversions from system or regular boilers. Requires Gas Safe registration with the right appliance categories.
- Gas boiler servicing: annual services, warranty services and, if you offer them, landlord gas safety records.
- Oil boilers: indoor and external kerosene boilers, oil combis and associated fuel line work. The appropriate OFTEC installation registration provides a self-certification route in England and Wales; check local approval procedures elsewhere.
- Solid fuel: back boilers, boiler stoves and independent solid fuel boilers, including flue lining and heat-leak circuits. Appropriate HETAS registration provides a self-certification route for eligible work in England and Wales.
- Boiler cover: select this only if your business sells or administers cover plans, and make sure any insurance-based product meets the relevant FCA rules.
- Biomass: pellet, log and chip boilers. Homeowners claiming the Boiler Upgrade Scheme need an MCS certified installer.
Set a sensible working area
Travel time can affect the margin on a replacement quite differently from a single service visit. Many engineers keep servicing tight to their base and quote replacements further out. Off-grid work is different again: oil, solid fuel and biomass customers are spread across rural areas, so a wider radius may be the only way to find enough of them.
Revisit your coverage and services when your diary changes, particularly heading into autumn when breakdown-driven replacement enquiries usually pick up.
Lead packs of 5, 10 or 20
Five leads to test an area
A 5-lead pack can suit an engineer trying out a new postcode area or filling gaps between booked installs. Allow for unanswered calls and surveys that do not convert, as well as the jobs you win.
Ten leads for a weekly quoting routine
A 10-lead pack may suit a business that sets aside regular time for surveys. Check how many installs you can realistically fit in before taking on more.
Twenty leads for a larger team
A 20-lead pack may fit a firm with an office handling calls while engineers are on site. More leads still need surveying and following up; the pack size is not a promise of twenty jobs. Confirm current packs, charging and conditions in the app.
From sign-up to your own quote
- Download the app and register your heating business with accurate contact details.
- Choose the services and fuels you cover and the areas you work in, then browse the available enquiries.
- When you are ready, choose a paid pack that suits your capacity and read its terms.
- Contact suitable customers, confirm the fuel, boiler position and hot water needs, and arrange a survey.
- Issue your own written quote naming the appliance, output, warranty, flue and controls.
Companies joining the network are asked for relevant insurance details and references. Keep your Gas Safe, OFTEC, HETAS or MCS registration current and describe it accurately to customers; they are encouraged to check it.
Make the first call count
Read the enquiry before you ring. For a combi, ask about bathrooms, showers and mains water flow before suggesting a size. For oil, ask about the tank's age and position. For solid fuel, find out whether the chimney has been swept and whether the house is in a smoke control area. For biomass, ask where the fuel would be stored and delivered.
Only use your phone when it is safe to stop work. If the customer does not answer, leave a short message with your business name and the job they asked about, then try again at a sensible time.
Allow for the survey and handover
A gas replacement survey may need water-flow measurements and a check of the gas supply and flue route. Oil work needs a look at the tank and fuel line; biomass work may need a heat-loss calculation and delivery assessment. Price that time alongside installation, commissioning and the return visit if a part is delayed. Confirm who registers the work and warranty, and give the customer the records that apply in their part of the UK.
Put the scope in writing
State the boiler make, model and output, the warranty and its servicing conditions, the flue type, controls, any system clean or filter, removal of old equipment, VAT and payment terms. Agree any extra work, such as upsizing a gas pipe or relining a chimney, before you start rather than adding it to the final invoice.
Your business sets its own prices and makes its own contract with the customer. You remain responsible for advice, workmanship, registration, notification of the work, insurance, payments, guarantees and complaints. Leads Do Work provides the introduction.
Watch the numbers before scaling up
Demand changes with the season, the local mix of fuel types and how many other engineers are quoting. Track the cost of leads, time spent surveying, travel and jobs won, so you can see whether a pack is paying its way.
